Switchfoot

The members of Switchfoot came together because of a mutual love of surfing and rock music. Their band name is even a surfing reference and since Op was originally the premiere surf brand in America, it’s only fitting we sample, and discuss this platinum selling San Diego based rock band.

Most recognized for hit songs, “Meant to Live” and “Dare you to Move”, Switchfoot is prepping for the launch of their new album, Hello Hurricane, releasing 11/10/09 from Atlantic Records.

The band’s new single “Mess of Me”, is a slightly harder sound than previous singles, but still maintains the band trademark of combining inspiring lyrics with solid rock sounds.

Check out this video for “Mess of Me”, created by the band. It features a live performance and some behind the scenes footage.

Mark your calenders bloggers! Album out 11/10/09!

The Raveonettes!

On October 6th, VICE records will release The Raveonettes 4th studio album, and according to band members Sune and Sharin, “It’s a strange mixture of modern and old, dark and happy.”

We at OP, had the chance to hear the new album, titled In and Out of Control first, and we loved it! The happy songs (“Bang!”, “Last Dance”) to the dark (“Oh, I Buried You Today”, “Wine”) all showed true originality in an industry where that’s hard to find!

The Raveonettes are far from an amateur rock band. To date, their catalog has sold over 200,000 records, and their previous album Lust Lust Lust garnered huge critical acclaim. They received 4 stars from Rolling Stone and an A- from Entertainment Weekly!

Be sure to pick up the album on October 6th, and see the band LIVE on the east coast in October and on the west coast in November.

Owl City

Computerized pop music can go two ways. It can go painfully wrong, or surprisingly right. The best computerized pop musicians are The Postal Service, but they're old news. At AMP'd, we stay up to the moment.

Meet Owl City. Their single Fireflies is climbing the charts, and they just released an album Ocean Eyes! Get it!

Check out Fireflies!

Jason Castro

Coming in 3rd place on American Idol stands for something. Love it or hate it, Idol shows you've got some talent! While I'm not a hardcore Idol fan myself, i must admit Jason Castro has a cool/ OP vibe. After watching some YouTube footage of him, i see a future for this guy. His first single, Lets Just Fall in Love Again has been getting consistent radio play, and is sitting at#68 on Itunes top pop songs. Give it a listen, what do you think?

The DoDoS

2 regular guys from San Fransisco are The DoDo's. According to the bands bio, their sound is "Experimental drumming and progressive metal melded perfectly with West African Ewe drumming and country blues fingerpicking." After a description like that, how can you not give them a shot?
